Hanford High Black Box Theatre April 26, 27, May 3, 4 - 7:30 pm Adults $8, Students/Seniors $6 | The Drowsy Chaperone is a musical comedy for people who just love musicals. It is a madcap romp from the moment a lonely New Yorker puts the record player needle down to play the audience his favorite record. We join him and the entire cast as he recreates in his imagination a 1928 “classic” featuring glamorous stars in love, a frazzled Broadway producer and his dim-witted girlfriend, some faintly threatening gangsters, an aging Latin lover, and the title character, a tipsy and drowsy chaperone. All have convened for a wedding at a gorgeous mansion owned by a ditzy matron, but run by a perfect butler.
Light, frothy, silly, charming, The Drowsy Chaperone is more PG-13 than some frequently performed musicals as this Prohibition-era story flaunts champagne and suggests some hanky-panky, but it is all in done in the tasteful style of an Astaire/Rogers movie. Please, come join the fun! Hanford High Auditorium May 10, 11, 17, 18 - 7:30 pm Adults $12, Students/Seniors $10 |
